Leader Silviculture has served British Columbia’s silviculture industry for over 30 years. On top of the high-quality planting work that we complete for our clients, we also has ample experience in ground prep work, stand-tending services, and vegetation management.
Our Roots
Founded in 1992 by François Sauvé, Leader Silviculture began as a passion project. François began his silviculture career as a treeplanter, and immediately knew it was an industry he loved. Over the years, he worked his way up the ranks, but realized that there was a better way to do things. He realized that there was a lot of room for the silviculture sector to grow in employee culture.
Francois decided to pave his own way and start Leader Silviculture. He realized that when you work hard for your team, they will work hard for you, so when he started this project, he wanted to make sure that his team was well taken care of. He implemented a “Reverse-management” structure, where employees tell supervisors what they need for success, and the supervisors help them get that. We still live and work by these principles, and are proud that many of our planters have been with us for many years.

Leader Silviculture offers a full range of silviculture services, and uses local, experienced teams to deliver personalized solutions for our customers. We believe in working creatively to innovate in the tree planting industry. Our goal is to boost productivity and cost-effectiveness for our clients, improve efficiency and work safety for our teams, and increase work quality and tree survival rate for the planet.
Leader Silviculture is not just a tree planting company. Our company also specializes in mechanical & chemical brushing, protection installation, spacing, pruning and slashing.
Working at Leader Silviculture
Without our incredible team, there is no Leader Silviculture. We rely on our employees to show up every day, work hard, and help us serve our clients. François’ start as a planter means he understands the drive, dedication, and grit that tree planting takes. It’s important for everyone on our leadership team to understand, which is why all of our supervisors have planted for at least 10 years. We work hard to ensure that our employees come first, which means they are treated with respect and have the tools they need to work safely, productively, and happily.
On top of creating a positive work environment, Leader Silviculture also tries to give our team the opportunity to extend their season if they’d like. This means that we specialize in other areas of the silviculture industry as well, such as brushing and slashing. The extra services we offer allow us to have a considerably longer season, often starting as early as March, and going as late as December. This is perfect for snowbirds who love to work hard during the summer and play harder during the winter, or the folks who can’t get enough and want as much as possible.
